Paying it Forward - The Class of 1970 50th Reunion Class Project

alexThe Class of 1970 established the Robert E. R. Huntley Scholarship in 1995 as part of its 25th reunion celebration. It recognizes the outstanding academic and personal achievement worthy of a Washington and Lee Honor Scholar.

This year’s recipient is Alex Sender ’22, from Oradell, New Jersey. Sender is an engineering major with a minor in data science. He is also a member of Sigma Chi and is serving as a Mock Con State Delegate.

Sender wrote a letter to members of the Class of 1970, in which he expressed his appreciation for creating the scholarship:

“Every day I am reminded of how fortunate I am to be able to attend and flourish at such a unique and special school, and for this I am truly grateful. Thanks to your generosity, I am able to focus more on my studies and learning. I sincerely hope that after graduation I will also be in a position to help future W&L students achieve their goals.”

The Class of 1970 continues a beautiful legacy that is already inspiring future alumni to pay it forward.
